ILL VIBES :: MARKY INTERVIEW
IV:
Marky! Whats good?! Thanks for sitting down for an interview. Let's let the people know what you're about. So for the people that don't know you, who is Marky? Describe a day in the life.
Marky:
Marky isn't your typical 19 year old from Washington, DC. I am a leader in my own right, an overall artist, a believer, a future for music, a future for hiphop. A day in the life with me is just chilled and interesting. I get up, and usually wait for inspiration to hit me out of nowhere or I go in search of. Then from there its the studio and brilliance is performed. I like to be alone while recording because I don't like too many chef's in my kitchen, especially now-n-days since everyone are music "do-ers". lol.
IV:
Definitely, making music has to be a personal experience. So, What are some of your earliest memories of hip hop like some of the first tracks you ever heard or when you fell in love with it and found out this is what you wanted to do.
Marky:
Some of my earliest moments of hiphop was radio and fashion. I didnt care about what the person looked like or whatnot. I was more intune to the music. My aunts were into fashion and the culture of hiphop so I knew pretty much what was "Hot" thanx to them. Growing in a young family stared me off. I fell in LoVe with hiphop once I met a real "rapper". He was actually my aunts boyfriend/lil'cousins father so I felt like I had close ties with him. His name is Peanut (Nutta Butter) - he was in Queen Pen's (A Party Aint A Party). Check him out lol. This is what I triggered it in my mind.

CONSEQUENCE x WALE :: UMD
HIP-HOP LIVE IN THE D.M.V.
OFFICIAL REVIEW BY VIC RAIN OF GOADOMETALK.COM
THE NIGHT WAS VERY ENTERTAINING, EVEN THOUGH I MISSED CONSEQUENCES' PERFORMANCE [SMH]! BUT I SAW CLIPSE AND THEY WERE AMAZING. I STARTED TO REALIZE AGAIN HOW MUCH OF A FAN I WAS OF THEIR MUSIC. [LORD WILLIN] IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE CD'S, SO WHEN THEY WENT THROUGH TRACKS FROM THAT LP I WAS JUST BOPPING MY HEAD, AND SAYIN "WOOO" OR "DAMNN" ON EVERY COUPLE OF BARS. THEIR PERFORMANCE WAS PRETTY GREAT.
***BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THE CLOTHING FROM CLIPSE THAT IS COMING VERY SOON CALLED [PLAY CLOTHES]***
BUT FIRST WALE PERFORMED, SO THIS IS HOW IT WENT. SO BASICALLY I GET THERE SAY WHUDAP TO EVERYONE, THEN WE GO IN THE BALLROOM AND UCB IS WARMING UP IN A REAL MELLOW SMOOTH POCKET. SO WALE THEN GETS ON STAGE AND THE SHOW BEGINS WITH "1 THING ABOUT A PLAYA [REMIX]" FT. SOUTHEAST SLIM. HE PERFORMS HITS LIKE "BACK IN THE GO-GO" FT PUSHA T [CLIPSE] AND "W.A.L.E.D.A.N.C.E.", WHILE UCB PERFORMED THEIR OWN HITS LIKE "SEXY LADY" AND "HER LOVE". PERSONALLY THE SECOND BEST PERFORMANCE OF THE NIGHT WAS "ARTISTIC INTEGRITY" BEING THAT UCB REALLY BROUGHT THE SONG TO LIFE.
THE PERFORMANCE OF THE NIGHT WAS "NIKE BOOTS"! EVEN THOUGH I HERD IT LIVE AT THE NIKE CONCERT WAYYY BACK WHEN WALE HAD A SHOW WITH WAYNE, IT HAD A LITTLE TWIST ON IT THIS TIME. WALE MADE A BIG MOVE BY BRINGING YOUNG CHRIS ON STAGE TO DO "NO BETTER LOVE" WITH UCB AND THEN ADD HIS OWN TWIST ON NIKE BOOTS. IT WAS GREAT AS WALE, YOUNG CHRIS, AND UCB'S RAPPER SPIT ON THE LIVE NIKE BOOTS PERFORMANCE. EASILY I REALIZED THAT YOUNG CHRIS HAS THE UPCOMING SWAGGER OF JAY-Z. WALE ENDED THE NIGHT WITH THE CLASSIC "DIG DUG" [THE MOST REQUESTED RECORD ON THE RADIO IN DMV HISTORY]. BEING THAT IVE BEEN TO A BUNCH OF WALE SHOWS, OVERALL TO ME, I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THIS WAS HIS BEST PERFORMANCE THAT IVE SEEN THUS FAR.

TROUBLE THE WATER :: COLOROFCHANGE.ORG
Our nation was riveted as we watched thousands left to die when Katrina hit the Gulf Coast. As the national conversation turned to race and poverty, volunteerism shot way up. Folks noticed the huge disparities in our country and jumped up to do something.
Three years later, where are we? What happened to the promises to rebuild? Where do Katrina survivors live? Where are the jobs?
Trouble the Water explores these questions through the amazing story of Kim and Scott Roberts, two people from New Orleans who survived the worst of the storm, then began a long struggle to rebuild their lives. The film takes audiences on a journey that is by turns heart stopping, infuriating, inspiring and empowering.
Trouble the Water won the prestigious Grand Jury prize for Best Documentary at the Sundance Film Festival, and was called "one of the best American documentaries in recent memory," by the New York Times.
By going to see it this weekend, you can help it reach a wider audience and make a bigger impact.
Thanks and Peace,

BEATDOWN RECAP :: GOADOMETALK.COM
[PHOTOS BY BARBIE]
I DONT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO TELL YOU MAN. I CANT EVEN BEGIN TO EXPRESS HOW MANY TIMES FACES WERE SCREWED, HEADS WERE [PERMANENTLY] NODDED AND FREESTYLES WERE GIVEN DUE TO THE PLAY OF THESE BEATS! EVERY BODIES "A GAME" WAS BROUGHT AND PUT ON ONE STAGE, AT ONE ARENA. NOT ONLY THAT, BUT THE CITY'S FINEST MC'EES GRACED THE STAGE AS WELL.
LIVE PERFORMANCES BY X.O. [UPTOWN] AND A.P. OF PLUG ENTERTAINMENT WERE GIVEN DURING THE INTERMISSION. ALTHOUGH THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME HEARING BOTH LIVE, I WALK AWAY PROUD THAT I WAS GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY. THE BAMMA X.O. GAVE IT TO US STRAIGHT, SAYING WHAT HE FELT AND DIDNT HOLD HIS TONGUE FOR NOBODY. THATS BESIDES THE FACT THAT DUDE IS NICE, AND IS DUE A DEAL WITH A MAJOR! [I THINK THE CITY SHOULD BE EXPECTING SOME NEW ISH' FROM X.O. IN THE NEAR FUTURE, I THINK?]. A.P. IS ANOTHER JEWEL IN THE CITY, THAT GOADOMETALK.COM HAS BEEN KEEPING TRACK OF. THE ENTIRE CROWD KNEW HIS LYRICS, HIS HOOKS, AND HIS BEATS, EVEN FELLOW ARTIST...SO THATS WHEN YOU KNOW YOU "YOU GOING BE SOMEBODY". SHOUT OUTS TO DRE THE MAYOR FOR GETTING OUR YOUNG ASSES IN BY THE WAY!
...WE WERE ALSO GRACED BY THE LYRICS OF K-BETA [DUDE IS TRUTH], GOING IN ON ANY & EVERY BEAT ALIZAY WOULD PLAY! IT DONT MATTER TO SON, AND IT DIDNT MATTER TO THE CROWD AS WE WATCHED AND LEARNED. THE SCENE WAS CLASSIC...IMAGINE K-BETA ON THE BALCONY LOOKING DOWN AT THE CROWD, WITH A MICROPHONE AND NO HYPE MAN, WHILE ALIZAY ON THE FLOOR KILLING EM' SOFTLY, TRACK, BY TRACK, BY TRACK, BY TRACK!
CLUB FELIX BOUNCERS ON THE HEADS, BUT ANYWAY...ALL IN ALL THE EVENT WAS CLASSIC! INNER LOOP CISE US WITH SOME PRESS PASSES OR SOMETHING NEXT TIME, REAL TALK.
